The way it works:
First it is important to know that the FETAL DNA gets mixed or combined with the mother’s DNA by passing through the placenta and out towards the bloodstream. During our lab testing, we isolate this fetal DNA from the mother’s DNA and then compare it to the father’s DNA. This requires PCR amplification in the labs and results come within 1 – 2week. It is a percentage-based result as it compares specific DNA sequences to match. If the percentage of the match is 99.9%, then you are the father; however, if it is 0%, you are not the father based on the results of the testing.
